The third Virtual Town Hall meeting will be happening on i3c BRIC-RCB Ph.D. Programme in Bioscienceson 10 June 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM IST.
IndiaBiostreams, webinars by IndiaBioscience, was launched on June 20, 2019. It serves as a virtual broadcasting platform for science communication and outreach. It aims to create awareness and educate the community on relevant topics. It serves as a medium to offer training and mentorship to the life science community on much-needed skills such as grantsmanship, professional development, communication etc. It also serves as a platform to host stakeholder debates on pertinent issues to ultimately inform science policy. It is also a potent channel for funding agencies to articulate their programs, opportunities and activities. IndiaBiostreams is distributed via our channel on YouTube.

In this second webinar of the ‘Science Policy 101’ series, Aditya Kaushik walks us through the history of Science, Technology and Innovation Policies in India so far, their motivation, salient features, and significant outcomes. This was followed by a general discussion on the four policy statements.
What is Science Policy? How are Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) policies made in India? Is there an institutional mechanism for STI policymaking? Who are the actors involved in the STI policy process? How does evidence flow into this process? This webinar was the first of the 'Science Policy 101' series, in which the speakers, Chagun Basha and Aditya Kaushik attempt to answer, think-through and discuss these questions.
A moderated discussion with leading researchers on ethical practices in academic research. The topics covered include purity of data, publication ethics and plagiarism. This discussion is broadly based on the “National Policy on Academic Ethics", a document that was issued by the office of the Principal Scientific Advisor (PSA) to Government of India in the year 2019.

In this webinar, Bernd Pulverer, Head, EMBO Press introduced the concept of Open Access (OA), discussed the purpose and challenges of EMBO's transition to OA and also spoke about OA as a business model.
For our sixth session, we discussed the need for professional career guidance cells, common skill-gaps in hiring, and the best ways to handle career transitions, setbacks, and failures.

For our fifth session, we discussed the importance of professionalism and work ethics for effective career development. We also spoke about the importance of good role models and mentors in facilitating one’s career journey.

Elly Tanaka is a developmental biologist renowned for her groundbreaking research in the field of tissue regeneration and stem cell biology. Tanaka is particularly recognized for her work on limb regeneration in axolotls, a process that has captivated scientists for its potential implications in regenerative medicine. Her lab's research focuses on understanding the cellular and molecular mechanisms that govern tissue regeneration, with the ultimate goal of applying this knowledge to enhance regenerative capacities in other organisms, including humans. During her talk, she took us through her scientific journey and highlight the importance of systemic studies in regenerative biology.
Alpha Yap, Professor and Group Leader at the Institute for Molecular Bioscience, discussed in his talk about his journey of collaborating across disciplines with colleagues from physics, developmental biology and mathematics, in studying how mechanical forces are generated and sensed, to coordinate cell behaviour in tissues.
