National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), a premier research Centre is looking for appointment of a Science Communication and Outreach Manager on contract basis. Selected candidates shall be offered a consolidated pay.

Detailed Profile:

The Simons Centre for the Study of Living Machines at NCBS is home to researchers who use the tools of physics and computer science to figure out how living systems work. We are looking to hire someone to manage all our science communication and outreach efforts. This will involve:

1.Meeting and interviewing NBCS faculty and students as well as meeting visiting scientists to develop stories on interdisciplinary research to be posted at the NCBS News site.

2.Documenting events such as conferences, workshops, and talks, using photo, video, and text.

3.Posting frequent updates on social media including the Simons Centre Twitter handle and Facebook pages.

We expect the Science Communication and Outreach Manager to bring creativity to the task of showcasing the kind of science we do. This job gives you the opportunity to work in a vibrant science environment, to attend talks and speak to scientists about their work, and keep abreast of the latest developments in interdisciplinary biology. MSc or above candidates should have a background in science or engineering at the MSc level or PhD level and should be specialised in any branch of science or engineering, strong experience in science communication and science outreach via social media.

Candidate should have at least 1 year of experience in science communication, or science journalism, ideally in the form of published articles. Experience managing social media and outreach is a plus.
