The Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB) is an autonomous young institute based in Electronics City, Bengaluru. The mandate of the institute is to catalyze the growth of the biotech industry through education, research and entrepreneurship programs. Currently the education programs of the institute include an inter-disciplinary masters’ and a PhD programme. The institute has a wonderful placement record of its masters’ students, both in industry and in academia, including internationally. The institute has an excellent research infrastructure including sophisticated laboratories and equipment suitable for cutting edge research. The faculty of the institute are engaged in high quality research in areas such as genomics and synthetic biology. They have received funding from various sources and have an excellent publication record. The institute has an incubation program for startup companies, and has incubated over 25 companies so far. Some of these companies have already been successful in the market place and several of them have won prestigious awards. 

IBAB is located in a beautiful campus which is a part of an 80-acre biotech park, the Bangalore Helix. The institute is co-located in this campus along with the Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre (BBC), an excellently-equipped incubation centre that is incubating about 30 young life science start-ups, and the Centre for Human Genetics. The presence of a large number of hospitals, well known IT and biotech companies and startups in South Bangalore provides ample scope for collaborations and inter-disciplinary research. 

IBAB has ambitious plans to expand its activities and is currently seeking to appoint faculty in the broad areas of bioinformatics and biotechnology. Examples of areas of work include synthetic biology, genomics, computational biology, chemo informatics, data analytics, image analysis, disease biology, and immunology. 

Successful candidates will be involved in high quality research and will build extramurally fundable independent research programmes. Apart from research, new faculty members will also be responsible for teaching in their respective domains and sharing institutional responsibilities along with other colleagues. 

Remuneration will be commensurate with expertise and experience. 

Candidates should have a PhD, with post-doctoral/industrial experience. The candidate should have an outstanding track record of research, as evidenced by high impact publications.
