Applications are invited from the Indian citizens for filling up the following post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under the industry sponsored time bound project undertaken in the Department of Medical Oncology, SRIHER, Chennai.

The project involves the use of small molecules that target DNA repair genes. The potency of the small molecules will be tested in ovarian and breast cancer primary cell lines. The project also involves dissecting the DNA replication and repair efficiency in the presence of the small molecules using single molecule imaging techniques and different biochemical assays.

Age limit: Not more than 30 years as on the date of advertisement.

Relaxation on qualification and age: SC/ST/OBC/WOMEN/PWD candidates will get relaxation as per Govt. of India Rules.

The position is purely contractual and initially for a period of 1 year. The continuation of the fellowship is subject to satisfactory performance and review at the end of the year. On satisfactory performance, the tenure of the fellowship may be further extended.

2 years (extendable subject to the satisfactory performance)

Money

Rs. 31,000 fixed per month + 24 % HRA/​month.

Qualification

M.Sc. in Biochemistry/​Biotechnology or M. Tech. degree in a relevant engineering branch or equivalent with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent CGPA. 

Experience

Extensive prior knowledge and passion for research in cancer biology, especially using imaging-based techniques are essential. Prior experience in handling cultured mammalian cell lines, cellular sensitivity assays and a substantial computer programming background will be an added advantage. NET/GATE qualified candidates will be preferred.
