The Department of Life Sciences, School of Natural Sciences, Shiv Nadar Institution of Eminence (Deemed to be University), Delhi NCR, invites applications from bright and motivated individuals for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Project Associate‑I in the Spatial Navigation Laboratory led by Dr. Sachin Deshmukh. Roles & Responsibilities

The laboratory focuses on understanding spatial navigation by performing in vivo recordings of neuronal activity in the hippocampus and entorhinal cortex of freely behaving rodents.

• Design and manufacture experimental hardware.
• Develop software for experiment control and data analysis.
• Perform implantation surgeries, neural recordings, and behavioral experiments.
• Conduct histology to localize electrodes.
• Design recording implants for the DST/NSF-sponsored project.
• Record neural activity using Neuropixels probes and tetrodes.
• Analyze hippocampal and entorhinal cortical neural activity.

The appointment is initially for one year and may be extended based on project continuation and satisfactory performance.

• Rs 37,000 per month for candidates qualified through CSIR-UGC NET or GATE.
• Rs 30,000 per month for candidates without CSIR-UGC NET/GATE qualification or with only a four-year Bachelor’s degree.
• House Rent Allowance (HRA) as applicable for candidates not availing campus accommodation.

• Four-year Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, Life Sciences, or a related field.
• Programming skills in Python, C, C++, MATLAB, or any similar language.
• Willingness to work with rodents (rats).
