This is a multi-institutional collaborative project between M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation, Chennai, Vellore Institute of Technology and University of Hyderabad. Title of the project — Haplotype based validation of the role of a lectin gene (SalT) operational at the interface of abiotic (salinity) and biotic (blast disease) stress resistance through in-planta as well as ex-planta strategies.

• Rice transformation & green-house based evaluation
• E. coli protein overexpression
• Data analysis, scientific writing, and publication

Age Limite: Fresh Ph.D candidates will be preferred. Age not more than 32 years as on the date of application.

4 Years

Ph.D. in Agricultural Biotechnology/​Life sciences/​Plant Sciences and related fields, with minimum 60% aggregate during post-graduation.

Ability to work independently in a collaborative, multi-lab environment, with strong scientific writing and presentation capabilities. 

Demonstrated hands on experience in

• Basic molecular biology & cloning techniques
• Rice transformation & green-house based evaluation
• E. coli protein overexpression

At least one peer reviewed research publication relevant to the experience listed above in a Q1 journal, with significant impact factor
