Project

Investigating the effect of Osmolytes on the Interplay of Dynamics of Water, protein and DNA: Implications for Modulating Protein-DNA Specificity

Profile

JRF Position in Bioinformatics — Molecular Dynamics Simulations

Specificity in the binding of proteins to DNA is important for the tight regulation of various cellular processes including replication, transcription etc. Loss of protein-DNA specificity has adverse ramifications including uncontrolled cell proliferation (cancer) etc. Osmolytes are commonly known to be expressed under stress conditions. This project aims to delineate the effect of osmolytes on protein-DNA specificity using computational methods (molecular dynamics simulations).

Money

As per rules and regulations

Qualification

First class in M. Sc. or M. Tech. (Biophysics, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Physics, or related fields)

To Apply

Interested candidates may send their latest resume by email to Dr. Vigneshwar Ramakrishnan (vignesh@scbt.sastra.edu) on or before 10 February 2019.
