Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join the project focused on restoring a peri-urban lake in Bengaluru. The lakes in and around Bengaluru are facing significant challenges, including pollution from untreated wastewater, solid waste disposal, and encroachment due to the drying of lake beds. They invite motivated candidates to become part of their interdisciplinary team. Together, they are developing innovative solutions, including nature-based strategies and improved governance structures, to restore and sustain lake health. The programme aims to work towards achieving a water-secure future for society through interdisciplinary knowledge generation and dissemination, policy engagement, capacity building, and partnerships for equitable and sustainable water management and democratic water governance. To advance the knowledge we adopt an approach of integrated water resources management and acknowledge an intricate interplay between natural and human systems within complex waterscapes. Their strategy integrates diverse knowledge streams, particularly hydrology encompassing surface water-groundwater interactions, political ecology, and science, technology, and society to analyse and address water-related issues by leveraging our expertise in geospatial tools and nature-based solutions. 1. Conduct regular sampling and analysis of water and sediment quality parameters 
2. Analyze water quality data using statistical tools and GIS software to identify trends and assess the impact of restoration efforts.
3. Prepare detailed reports on water quality findings 
4. Assist in organizing and conducting workshops and educational programs for local communities on water quality and conservation practices.

The initial appointment will be one year, with the opportunity of renewal for a second year, subject to satisfactory progress with two months of probation period. 

Salaries at ATREE are competitive and at par with other academic institutions in India.

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
