Jobs
Postdoctoral Position
Profile
Applications are invited for the post of postdoctoral fellowship in a joint program led by Professors L. S. Shashidhara, Vinay Tergaonkar and Shantanu Chowdhury at Trivedi School of Biosciences, Ashoka University. The work would focus on exploring Cell-to-Cell Signaling within the Tumor Microenvironment using experimental and computational methods.
Roles and Responsibilities
Are you enthusiastic about understanding tumor biology cell-by-cell; and, reconstruct this to understand why some tumors become resistant to therapy? If so, and if you are a PhD in experimental cell/cancer biology and/or advanced computational biology this might be of your interest.
Briefly, the program would closely analyze the different cell types, in addition to tumor cells, present within the tumor microenvironment. Interactions among different cell types, and the overall outcome of the cell-cell crosstalk determines how ‘treatable’, or not, is a particular cancer. Primary idea would be to decipher this signaling using clinical tissue, tumor-organoid biology and related models. Both experimental and high-
throughput computational methods will form the core of the program.
Duration
The appointment will be made for a period of one year with an option for renewal.
Money
Fellowship amount is Rs.12 lakh per annum.
Qualification
PhD in either experimental or computational biology.
To Apply
Interested candidates should include in their application:
- A CV (with complete academic record and research experience, and names and contact information for two references)
- A cover letter describing their career goals, research interests and what excites Ashoka University Special Postdoctoral Fellowship Deconstruct Cell-Cell Interactions in Tumors them about the lab’s work.
- 1000-word proposal on how their expertise would contribute to understand cell signaling in tumor biology.
Applications should be emailed to tsb@ashoka.edu.in with a clear mention in the subject line as “Application for Special PDF Position at Ashoka”. An initial screening to shortlist suitable candidates will be followed by an interview by a panel of scientists. Last date for application submission: May 15 2023.
Note: Mere fulfilment of qualifications/experience requirements does not entitle a candidate to be called for the interview. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview and will be informed by email. They believe strongly in a diverse and inclusive environment. Candidates from historically marginalized backgrounds are
encouraged to apply.
