Dear Reader,

The inception of IndiaBioscience took place to knit together life science investigators across the country through Young Investigators Meetings (YIMs). The first YIM took place back in 2009. We are extremely proud to be hosting the fourteenth YIM from 4 - 6 May, 2022. While we have come a long way since the first YIM, community building has continued to be our motto.

We have also been highlighting science outreach efforts in India by means of articles published on our website. Growing the scope and width of our activities with respect to outreach and community engagement and building, we are also delighted to launch a dedicated community engagement and outreach page on IndiaBioscience website.

This page will be a repository for practitioners (independent faculty, students, science communicators, and educators) and organisations who are keen or involved to carry out science outreach and public engagement in India. The page will highlightlight science outreach initiatives in India, stories behind these initiatives, skill-building sessions/activities for science outreach, resources, grants, job openings relevant to community engagement and science outreach. We invite you to engage with us to build a stronger outreach community.

Our invitation also includes writing for us in our news and columns sections. Please email us a brief description of your story in ~100-200 words. To get instant updates of our upcoming podcasts, please subscribe to our IndiaBiospeaks podcast channel on Spotify and other popular podcast apps. Subscribe to our YouTube channel to enjoy all webinars in one place and to our newsletter to get the latest updates. You can write to us at and connect with us on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.

FundaySunday feat

Season 2 of FundaySunday kickstarts with an online talk by Mohit Kumar Jolly, Assistant Professor at the Centre for BioSystems Science and Engineering (BSSE) at IISc Bangalore. In this talk, he will share his team's journey in getting an answer to the question 'How do cancer cells switch their states, and how can we prevent them from doing so?'. Jolly addresses this by doing exactly what cancer cells are great at: accepting identity crisis (working across many disciplines) and doing improv (spontaneous appropriate response to one’s environment).
