  • Bioprocesses & Biotechnology: An Expert Insight Session

Taylor & Francis Group organised a virtual panel discussion titled Bioprocesses & Biotechnology: An Expert Insight Session’ on 22nd of November from 3 to 4:30 pm IST in collaboration with the Biotech Research Society of India (BRSI). IndiaBioscience was invited for this virtual session to share their valuable insights on the Relevance of science communication in the biological sciences research space’ along with other experts from the BRSI & T&F.

  • Explore Bioethics’ in the Indian Context

This webinar by IndiaBioscience explored the concept of bioethics, which is value-laden, by using perspectives from social and cultural anthropology, practical ethics, science practice, and policy decisions. The speaker Saveetha Meganathan, a Senior Scientist from Tata Institute for Genetics and Society, Bengaluru, drew examples from the public health realm in India to discuss and observe that‘bioethics’ should not be limited to mere protocol compliance but should guide science practice. Further, she discussed the need to identify, analyse and resolve ethical challenges in everyday science practice that are directly impacting society at large.

The webinar had 114 live attendees, including students, educators, researchers, and others.

  • FundaySunday feat. Mohit K Jolly

This is an initiative to publicize some fun science communications and take interesting/funny/self-descriptive science near our audiences. Anyone could submit their work here. It could be science illustration/poem/song/dance/picture or anything that makes subjects in life sciences interesting. Here Mohit K Jolly from IISc Bangalore talks about cancer cells, identity crisis and improv. Read more here.

  • 14th Young Investigators’ Meeting 2022

14th Young Investigators’ Meeting (YIM 2022) was held from 4 – 12 May 2022, in an online mode. This was a difficult decision, especially considering the nature of the meeting, but we believed that it was the best possible solution in the face of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

YIM 2022 was a 3‑day virtual meeting, which aimed to provide an opportunity for a larger cohort of participants to experience all the flavors and components that a traditional YIM meeting offers. Here, eminent researchers and administrators were invited as mentors and speakers who shared their experiences in building a career in scientific research. This was followed by a 4‑day virtual PDF Satellite Meeting- a platform that brought together postdoctoral fellows keen to embark on an independent research career in India with heads of institutions (in India) that are currently recruiting.

    No.of attendees: 44 Young Investigators + 55 Postdoctoral Fellows + 40 scientists as speakers/panellists/mentors + 42 speakers as institutional representatives.

The talks and panel discussion from the meeting can be found here.

  • IN CONVERSATION with IGNITE

Ignite Life Science Foundation, Cactus Communications, and IndiaBioscience have come together to co-host this live online event. In a relaxed and conversational format, the interlocutor for each session will uncover the background story to the work and life of an eminent scientist. This will not only afford students, young scientists, and the science-curious in India a first-hand/ringside view of what it takes to become successful in science but also give them an opportunity to direct questions to the invited scientist.
