Fellowship in Science Communication

National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), an autonomous scientific organization under the Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, engaged in popularization of Science & Technology among the people at large, invites applications for M. TECH. COURSE IN SCIENCE COMMUNICATION. The Council offers Post Graduate Fellowships (15 Nos. excluding candidates sponsored by NCSM) for the course commencing from January 2024.
The selected Fellows will undergo a two-year four-semester full-time Master of Technology (M. Tech) Course in Science Communication being conducted by NCSM under the recognition of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi on an off-campus mode. The lectures and tutorials would be held at National Council of Science Museums, Kolkata.
Age limit: The upper age limit for candidates is 30 years as on 01.01.2024. For sponsored candidates, the upper age limit is 45 years
Money
NCSM will offer a monthly fellowship of Rs. 12,000/- to all candidates except to the sponsored candidates. The fellowship will be offered for two years subject to satisfactory performance by the student. NCSM will also offer Rs. 12,000/- contingency grant per annum to all candidates (except to the sponsored candidates) for purchase of books, stationeries etc.
Qualification
Essential Qualification: A Candidate shall be considered for admission to the M. Tech. programme if he/she possesses:
- MSc in any subject (including MSc in Museology) with at least 55% marks at MSc level for candidates belonging to General/General-EWS & 50% at MSc level for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-NCL/Third gender and Persons with Disability categories. OR
- BE/BTech in any subject with at least 55% marks at BE/BTech level for candidates belonging to General/General-EWS & 50% at BE/BTech level for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC-NCL/Third gender and Persons with Disability categories.
Candidates with PhD (in Science or Engineering) or MTech in Engineering are also eligible to apply. However, for such candidates, the minimum marks at MSc/BE/BTech level can be relaxed.
