Investigating the pathomechanisms underlying the RNA exosome component EXOSC1 associated neurodegenerative disorder

Profile

Applications are invited for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) from eligible persons for a research study funded by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Government of India.

Duration

The candidate will be appointed initially for one year which may be extended to the validity of the project i.e up to 3 years based on the assessment of the candidate’s performance. Subject to his/​her performance candidates may also pursue PhD through these projects.

Money

Rs 31,000+HRA for candidates who have qualified national entrance test — CSIR-UGC NET JRF or lecturership (LS), GATE, ICMR-JRF, DBT-JRF.

Qualification

Postgraduate degree — MSc. or MTech. (with minimum 60% marks or equivalent) in any branch of Life sciences – Biological sciences/​Biotechnology/​Biochemistry/​Genetics.

Candidates who have qualified for national entrance examinations such as CSIR-UGC NET JRF or lecturership (LS), GATE, ICMR-JRF, DBT-JRF, INSPIRE will be preferred.

Experience

Through this project selected candidates will be working at the interface of basic sciences and clinical research. Candidates should have a excellent academic record, spoken and written communication skills in English, inquisitiveness, perseverance and strong motivation to pursue a career in science.

Prior training in cell, molecular and developmental biology with research experience using molecular and cellular investigation techniques – including but not limited to stem cell culture, cloning, PCR/​qPCR, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence and imaging, western blotting, Drosophila culture and genetics will be highly desirable.
