Bio mitigation of Carbon dioxide (CO2) via bacterial species and biological Carbon concentration mechanism (CCM) in selected bacterial species


Applications are invited for ONE position of Research Fellow on a project under the supervision of Prof. Smita Raghuvanshi (Dept. of Chemical Engineering) and Prof. B. Vani (Dept. of Biological Sciences).

Scientific technologies have been adopted worldwide since the Paris Agreement in 2015 to reduce GHG emissions and prevent climate change. Technologies such as Carbon capture utilization (CCU) via bacterial route are the objective of our work and include the experimental studies at different concentrations of CO2 on a 20 L Bioreactor. Another important work includes finding the Carbon concentration mechanism (CCM) via the bacterial route. The work also includes the kinetic studies to be carried out for the obtained experimental results.


As per BITS Pilani norms


₹37,000 — ₹42,000 per month (based on the year of PhD and performance)


M.Sc., /M.E./ M. Tech with at least 60% marks in Chemical Engineering / Biotechnology / Microbiology/​Life science or allied science/​Environmental Engineering or equivalent.


Desirable: Motivated to carry out quality research work in the relevant area. Experience of working on bio- based processes or Microbiology-based experiments would be desirable but is not essential. Students aspiring for the Ph.D. program at BITS will be preferred.
