In its 5th edition, the IndiaBioscience Outreach Grants (IOG) has been awarded to grassroot ideas addressing niche problems. Five teams have been awarded the grant for the first time and one team has received an extension grant. Read the article to know more about the 5th IOG awardees' projects.

This article is the second in a two-part series reporting on the proceedings of the 16th Young Investigators’ Meeting (YIM 2024) held in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, from 11 to 15 March 2024. The 16th edition of the annual Young Investigators’ Meeting (YIM 2024) was held in the central Indian city of Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, from 11 to 15 March 2024. Around 120 young investigators and postdoctoral fellows, along with representatives from funding agencies, mentors, and institutional representatives, attended the meeting for special talks, networking sessions, workshops, panel discussion, and poster presentations.

The day-long SciComm Huddle at the recent India Science Festival (ISF) 2024, held on 19 January 2024 at IISER Pune, marked the first in-person SciComm Huddle. It addressed the current state of science communication (SciComm) in India, with a focus on SciComm's scope, institutional roles, capacity building, and the interface with media, emphasising the need for strategic discussions, diversity, innovative approaches, and rigorous research in the field.

The fifth Regional Young Investigators’ Meeting (RYIM) 2023-2024 took place at the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, Rajasthan from 18 to 20 January 2024. In spite of the freezing cold and foggy weather, the meeting saw a large number of attendees including mentors, young investigators, and students from all parts of the country. In this article, Rohini Karandikar shares her experience at the RYIM.

The third Regional Young Investigator Meeting (RYIM) 2023-24 was held in the serene and picturesque city of Bhubaneswar at the (DBT)-Institute of Life Sciences (DBT-ILS), from 4 to 6 December 2023. Based on the theme ‘Fostering academia-industry crosstalk’, the RYIM Bhubaneswar introduced young investigators (YIs) and researchers to the idea of building impactful collaborations between academia and industry.

SJAI organised its inaugural conference at National Institute of Immunology (NII), New Delhi on 24 and 25 November 2023. The conference, the first of its kind in India, was themed “Strengthening Science Journalism in India: Global trends, regional media, and the science-society connect”. In this article, we highlight the key takeaways from the various talks and discussions held during the conference.
