Write On — 2023

Event Details

The science writing competition by IndiaBioscience, Write On—2023′, aims to bring Indian life science research to the general public in a compelling and understandable way. The goal is to encourage diverse styles of popular science writing, including storytelling, fiction, book reviews, or interview articles. We invite submissions of unpublished, creative write-ups about your research (or research that piques your interest!) — between 1000 and 1200 words — crafted to be engaging and approachable for the average reader.

Submission guidelines:

  • The article should not be more than 1200 words.

  • References should preferably be provided as links in the text whenever possible. If a link cannot be found, it can be listed at the end of the article.

  • The articles must be submitted as a word file (.doc, .docx).

  • The article must be in UK English with font (Arial), font size (title-12, body-10), spacing (1.15).

  • A maximum of one entry per applicant is allowed.

  • The article should be written by one author. No co-authorship allowed.

  • At the end of the article, mention your full name, eligibility (whether pursuing BSc/BTech, MSc/MTech, or PhD), research institution, and contact information (email and phone number).

  • All entries must be original. Entries should not be submitted or published anywhere before.

  • All submitted entries belong to IndiaBioscience.

Prizes:

IndiaBioscience will award two cash prizes (First prize: INR 5k and second prize: INR 3k) in each of the three categories: Undergraduate, Masters, and PhD. Additionally, five additional commendable entries will be recognised with special prizes and IndiaBioscience goodies.

All awarded articles will be published on our website (after some editing if needed). Based on the evaluation done by the jury, the top three winners will be declared on February 28, 2024.
