Junior Research Fellow
Profile
A Junior Research Fellow position is available at the Yenepoya Research Center (YRC) in the Translational Neuroscience laboratory headed by Dr. Arnab Datta. The Datta lab combines various preclinical models and comparable clinical samples to discover potential therapeutic targets and biomarkers for neurological disorders using a systems biological approach.
The current project aims to
- establish an in vivo middle cerebral artery occlusion model in rodents
- perform model validation on intact animals and on isolated brain tissue
- characterize the model using protein mass spectrometry
- understand the evolution of the disease using a data-driven systems approach.
Money
The position will be fully funded by the YRC for candidates without govt. fellowship when the candidate will be enrolling for the Ph.D. program.
Qualification
The successful candidate must have an M.Sc./M.Pharm./M.Tech. in a relevant discipline (biology, chemistry, pharmacy, engineering, medicine). Candidates who have qualified in the GPAT/CSIR-NET/DBT-JRF/ICMR-JRF/UGC-JRF/GATE will be preferred.
Experience
Prior hands-on experience with animals will be useful. Relevant experience in teaching, pharma or biotech R&D, or in a research laboratory will be preferred. Having publications in peer-reviewed journals will be an added advantage. Other requirements include the ability to work independently following training, strong verbal and written communication skills in English, strong motivation, and most importantly a high level of creativity and enthusiasm for science.
