Our laboratories have a broad interest in receptor-target biology, epigenetic alterations in cancer and use of antibody engineering to generate effective cancer therapies. We use functional screens to identify effective targets and DNA engineering based approaches to evaluate and develop bispecific antibody platforms and antibody-RNA conjugates in the cancer immunotherapy space. For additional information about the project you may contact Dr. Tushir-Singh (js2yr@virginia.edu) and/or Dr. Bhatnagar (sb5fk@virginia.edu).

To support our current ongoing activities, we are looking for a postdoctoral Research Associate with experience in protein engineering, optimization and characterization. From the model system perspective, we would prefer a candidate with a strong background in basic molecular biology and immunology. In addition, experience with PBMCs handling, high throughput sequencing (RNA-seq, ChIP-seq), HPLC, animal handing and tumor xenografts is highly desirable.

UVA offers an exciting working environment, the possibility to interact with interdisciplinary research groups, and competitive salary and benefits.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Participate in planning, designing and executing technical and complex research projects, as assigned under the direction of a supervisor
2) Growth and maintenance of mammalian cell cultures
3) Contribute to grant application and publications

REQUIREMENTS/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1) MD and/or PhD in molecular biology, Immunology, cell biology or relevant scientific discipline by appointment start date
2) Experience in Cancer cell biology and general cell signaling
3) Excellent communication skills
4) Background in molecular biology, biochemical assays, protein handling
5) Proven ability to work in a collaborative research team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1) Experience with T‑cells and other immunological techniques
2) Experience with Flow Cytometry, HPLC, and animal handling is highly desirable
3) Expertise in basic protein purification and optimization techniques.
