The Wellcome/​DBT India Alliance (India Alliance) is an independent, dynamic Indian public charity that funds research in health and biomedical sciences in India. India Alliance is jointly funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India and the Wellcome Trust, UK. India Alliance funds research fellowships in basic biomedical, clinical and public health sciences to build research capacity and improve health and well-being. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the biomedical funding research ecosystem in India.

The Wellcome/​DBT India Alliance (India Alliance) is seeking a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO), who will be a highly regarded scientific research leader and will have managed a research group, Department or Institution within the biomedical, clinical and public health research field. S/​he will have a good understanding of the biomedical and clinical research environment and will have established research networks across India. The CEO will have demonstrable leadership and strategic planning experience, and will have overseen resources, finance and budgets. In addition, S/​he will be comfortable working in a changing / complex multi-stakeholder environment and being the primary external representative for their organisation. The CEO will have good communication and interpersonal skills and will oversee the development of the future scientific vision and business plans for India Alliance.

The post will be an India Alliance appointment and can be based in Delhi or Hyderabad, with travel between sites and overseas, as required. Ideal candidates will have a PhD or MD postgraduate qualification (having completed basic, clinical, public health or related scientific research), and may also have an MBA or related business qualification.
