Azim Premji University is looking for interns (or volunteers) for an urban ecology project in Dehradun to study the effects of invasive predators on the bird community in urban greens paces.

The intern will be assisting in conducting Pet surveys and Anthropogenic Noise Sampling.

Preferred Start date: 15^th November 2023

An intern should join the team for at least two months.

This is an unpaid internship position. However, students will gain experience in field-based ecological research and skills such as conducting questionnaire surveys, point transects (bird sampling), anthropogenic noise sampling, etc.

Students looking for internship or dissertation opportunities are especially encouraged to apply.

They can provide a basic honorarium if a student comes from an economically disadvantaged background.

Graduates or Post-graduates in zoology/​ecology/​environmental sciences/​wildlife sciences and allied fields interested in urban ecology are especially encouraged to apply.

Strong interest in field-based research in urban settings.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

1. Candidates residing in Dehradun
2. Ability to ride a two-wheeler and a valid driving license
3. Willingness to work alone and with other interns. Build a cordial relationship with the local community.
4. Ability to stay in the field for extended durations (3−4 hours)
5. Good time-management and teamwork skills
