Aging leads to dysregulation of bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) which in turn causes hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) dysfunction and increased production of myeloid cells. In this context, defects in beta adrenoreceptor (β‑AR) signaling in MSCs is known to cause HSC dysfunction in aging. The Research Scholar will be involved in delineating the molecular mechanism underlying MSC dysregulation during aging using gene cloning, molecular biology and immunology techniques in animal cell lines and primary cell cultures. More information can be found here.
