Research Assistant (with the possibility to enroll in the PhD program from 2024 – 25 academic year) positions for Microbiome Therapeutics Laboratory at Jio Institute, Navi Mumbai, India Microbiome Therapeutics Laboratory at the Jio Institute, Navi Mumbai is seeking highly motivated research assistants with a growth and ownership mindset, and expertise in the broader fields of Microbiome, Evolution, Computational biology, and Statistical modeling.

The ideal candidate will pursue impactful projects in modeling the human microbial interactions (novel approaches, no routine defined bioinformatics) and driving therapeutics. The Greater Mumbai region provides the best opportunities to collaborate extensively with other innovative groups, startups, and hospitals. The candidate will initially engage in microbiome modeling and analysis related to fecal transplants, decolonization of antimicrobial resistance, defining the expected microbiota over time, and is then expected to develop their own independent research agenda.

7.2 LPA

The ideal candidate must have a Bachelors or Master’s degree with specialization and coursework in Genomics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Applied Statistics, Biomedical engineering, or related fields. 

Excellent communication skills and demonstrated independence through projects and publications is a must. The candidate should be comfortable with programming in Python and R, and have basic experience with high performance computing. Independent funding for PhD (several national fellowships) is a marker for success and the PI would also work closely with the trainee on external funding applications.
