The Young Investigators’ Meeting (YIM) is an annual gathering that brings together exceptional young investigators, senior scientists, institutional leaders, and representatives from funding agencies, industry and other policymaking agencies to exchange ideas and foster mentorship, networking, and collaboration in the life sciences. The meeting itself is the flagship initiative of IndiaBioscience.

YIM 2027 will be the 19^th edition of the meeting and, similar to previous editions, cover a wide spectrum of themes including building and sustaining independent research careers in India, the landscape of science funding with a focus on early years of independent research, international funding opportunities, industry – academia collaborations, and focused sessions on mentorship and outreach. The structure includes an engaging line-up of activities, allowing a combination of formal and informal interactions through mentor talks by leading scientists, special talks across diverse research areas, poster presentations, panel and roundtable discussions on complex issues in life science, mini-workshops, and dedicated mentorship and networking sessions.

Organisers

Every YIM is curated by a team of young faculty members from Indian institutions along with the IndiaBioscience team. With YIM 2027 being hosted in Mohali, we have representation from two Mohali based institutions and one from the city of Thiruvananthapuram. The IndiaBioscience Board also plays an administrative and advisory role in each year’s YIM.

The advisers for YIM 2027 includes Banya Kar (BRIC-NII), Dasaradhi Palakodeti (BRIC-inStem), Debasisha Mohanty (BRIC-NII), Krishnaveni Mishra (University of Hyderabad), LS Shashidhara (NCBS-TIFR, Bengaluru), Rashna Bhandari (BRIC-CDFD, Hyderabad), Ron Vale (Janelia Research Campus, HHMI, US), Roop Mallik (IIT Bombay), Saman Habib (CSIR-CDRI, Lucknow), and Satyajit Mayor (University of Warwick, UK).
