Science communication plays an integral role in one’s scientific career. Being able to effectively disseminate research findings within the community and to consider collective opinions in prioritizing research needs is an important attribute of scientific maturity. We invite you to this workshop which is aimed at equipping participants with the essential know-how of research and communication ethics, writing grants, writing as well as speaking about science to a non-specialist audience, building the foundation for a career in research and funding opportunities at India Alliance.

DBT/​Wellcome Trust India Alliance (India Alliance) is an independent, dynamic public charity that funds research in health and biomedical sciences in India. India Alliance invests in transformative ideas and supportive research ecosystems to advance discovery and innovation to improve health and well-being. India Alliance stands for diversity, inclusivity, and transparency in science and works to facilitate engagement of science with society. JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research (JSS AHER) is a Deemed to be University located in Mysuru, Karnataka. It was established in 2008 under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and accredited by NAAC with A+ Grade (3.48 CGPA). JSS AHER is a Health Science focused Higher Education Institution and comprises of Faculties of Medicine, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Life Sciences, Management Studies and Yoga. The Deemed to be University has been focusing on teaching, research, and health services since its inception.

School of Life Sciences, Mysuru is enunciated in the JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research Strategic Planning Framework. It has a vision and a mission of achieving national and international distinction while strengthening local relevance. The unique courses offered with National Education Policy 2020 covers a wide spectrum of biological, biomedical, and environmental sciences with several interdisciplinary research areas.

Objectives:

  • To provide training in written and oral communication skills
  • To provide an opportunity to young researchers to discuss various issues pertaining to their research career including mentorship, career planning, and ethical aspects of scientific and medical research
  • To propagate skills as well as perspective building for the most aspiring young researchers by bringing young scientists and senior mentors

Registration Details
To keep the modules interactive, focused, and productive, the number of students trained at each workshop is limited to 60 participants comprising of Junior Scientists, Researchers, Assistant & Associate Professors, Research Scholars of Life Sciences and Health Sciences.
There is no registration fee. Accommodation and boarding for outstation participants will not be provided.

Mode of selection: Selected based on the merit of the application. (Q10 & Q11 of the application will be considered for the selection)
