The Biofouling and Biofilm Processes Research Group of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre is organising an International Conference ​“Recent Developments in Biofilms and Biofouling Control (BBC-2024)” during 12 – 14 December 2024.

Biofilms and biofouling adversely impact cooling water systems, heat exchange equipment, and power generation. Biofilms have gained global attention for their detrimental roles in health and antimicrobial resistance (AMR). While, beneficial biofilms and other microbial communities serving the mankind immensely through element cycling in the environment and biotechnological applications in engineered settings such as wastewater treatment and anaerobic digestion plants. Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is a pioneer in India, actively advancing the fields of biofilms, biofouling control, and biofilm-based biotechnologies for a sustainable future. The conference highlights the importance of microbial communities (biofilms and microbial aggregates) in medical, industrial and environmental settings.
