This 5‑day residential course will cover the fundamentals of light microscopy (Different light paths, contrast techniques, principles of fluorescence, different capabilities, confocal microscopy) followed by hands-on training in widefield and laser scanning confocal microscopes. The hands-on sessions will be followed by individual hands-on exercises, assignment submissions, and panel discussions to clarify doubts. The course also includes an image analysis component where participants will be introduced to the basics of digital image analysis and data handling. In addition, the research talks of eminent scientists will help in understanding the applications of light microscopy and how the knowledge gained during the course can be used to infer the scientific outcome from the digital captures leading to meaningful scientific discovery.
