Applications are invited for the post of Postdoctoral Research position available in the research group of Dr. Debasis Das in the Department of Biological Sciences at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai, India. The details of the research project are discussed below:

α‑Synuclein (α‑syn) is the pathological hallmark of Parkinson’s disease (PD) and other synucleinopathies, where its misfolding/​aggregation leads to the accumulation of its non-functional structures inside the living cell. This project aims to identify small therapeutic peptides that – 

1. Compete with α‑syn for their action in membrane fusion, and
2. To reduce the α‑syn misfolding under pathological conditions.

As per TIFR guidelines

Ph.D. in Life Sciences/​Biochemistry/​Molecular Biology/​Neuroscience/​Biophysics/​Biotechnology with good academic record. Candidate should have demonstrated aptitude in terms of publications in peer reviewed journals.

Desired: Experience in Microscopy and Biochemical, Molecular biology techniques, and Mammalian Cell culture is desirable.
