Brief Description about the Project:

Strenuous exercise in healthy individuals specifically sports person acts as a mechanical stressor on cartilage of knee favouring wear and tear. Animal study results with turmacin, an active polysaccharide ingredient from turmeric, have been promising in having an ameliorating effect on joint pain in osteoarthritis models. Hence, the current clinical trial is proposed to understand the effect of turmacin on relief from acute joint pain in humans and also to understand the effect of turmacin on joint discomfort in healthy individuals provided stress on the knee.

Specific Activities

• Participant screening & consent process
• Venipuncture of the participant for blood tests
• Process the samples as per the needs and collect lab results
• Schedule appointment for muscle function tests / ECG / ECHO
• Follow up phone calls
• Do pill counts and ensure adherence
• Dispense investigational drug product and maintain log
• Provide secretarial support to the research projects of the research team member
