Research Scientist / Senior Research Scientist

 Kerala, India

Profile

Simisco Biologics is seeking a highly skilled and motivated molecular biologist with expertise in using phage displayed antibody libraries for the discovery, selection and optimization of high-quality antibody candidates against purified and/or virus like particle- and/or cellular-displayed antigens. The ideal candidate will have a PhD or M.Sc. / M.Tech. in molecular or cellular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or a related field, combined with several years of hands-on experience successfully conducting phage display antibody selections and a strong understanding of protein structure, function and chemistry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, and execute antibody selections using phage-displayed libraries against protein antigen targets for both isolation of naïve and optimized clones.
  • Design, plan, and execute antibody selections using phage-displayed libraries against virus like particles and engineered mammalian cell lines for both isolation of naïve and optimized clones.
  • Apply and troubleshoot phage display methodologies to optimize selection campaigns.
  • Implement quality control measures and monitor selection progress throughout multiple rounds.
  • Conduct multiplexed selections and manage downstream analyses, including sequencing and characterization of clonal phage outputs.
  • Characterize isolated phage clones for specificity and affinity.
  • Analyze selection outputs using next-generation sequencing (NGS) and integrate findings into antibody discovery strategies.
  • Document, interpret, and present results to internal teams and external collaborators.
  • Train, supervise, and mentor junior scientists, students, or research associates in phage display techniques, ensuring development of proficiency and technical independence.
  • Provide guidance in experimental design, troubleshooting, and data interpretation for team members.
  • Act as a technical resource within the team, fostering knowledge transfer and best practices in phage display and antibody discovery.
  • Document, interpret, and present results to internal teams and external collaborators.
  • Collect key selection information and ensure accurate and timely transfer to an internal Laboratory Information
    Management System (LIMS)
  • Contribute to scientific publications.

Qualification

Ph.D. or M.Sc. / M.Tech. in molecular or cellular biology, biochemistry, immunology, or related discipline.

Experience

  • Several years of postdoctoral or industry experience with a strong publication record in antibody phage display.
  • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting phage display selections, monitoring enrichment, and ensuring output quality.
  • Experience with prokaryotic cell and mammalian culture is required.
  • Proficiency in high-throughput selection workflows and sequencing-based analysis of phage pools including hands-on experience with all standard molecular biology techniques (ELISA, PCR, cloning, etc.) is required.
  • Experience with the design and generation of phage-displayed libraries is preferred.
  • Experience with protein biochemistry and production and characterization of recombinant proteins is an asset.
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture is an asset.
  • Experience with NGS characterization of phage display outputs is highly desirable.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, meticulous lab practices, and strong attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented research environment.
