The Initiative for Biological Systems Engineering (IBSE) at IIT Madras is seeking to hire a Data Analyst to join the Genome India Project. Genome India project is multi-institutional project started in India funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. 

The project aims at performing whole-genome sequencing (WGS) of at least 10,000 individuals representing the Indian population in order to create a detailed catalog of genetic variations. We are a data science partner in this project. Our objective is to apply Machine Learning and AI for analysis, annotation, and reference genome development.

● Candidates must have completed their Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics/​related fields.

• Experience in biostatistics and machine learning.
• Strong communication, data presentation, and visualization skills.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
• At least one year of experience working with whole-genome sequencing data analysis Shortlisting Criteria.
• Academic pedigree, performance in Bachelor’s degree.
• Experience with data generated by whole-genome sequencing, statistical principles, and machine learning.
• Proficiency in programming (high-level languages, preferably Python/​R).
• Contribution to open-source projects will be a plus.
