Project

Temporal profiling of mRNA binding proteins to understand circadian regulation of translation in marine phytoplankton.

Profile

Applications are invited from Indian nationals for the post of project-JRF/Project Assistant in the research area of circadian biology under the DST-SERB Project No. SRG/2019/000364 entitled Temporal profiling of mRNA binding proteins to understand circadian regulation of translation in marine phytoplankton.

Project Description: Using simple unicellular marine phytoplanktons, predominantly dinoflagellates this project aims to understand how circadian clock generated temporal mRBPome regulates physiology and biochemistry in these single celled organisms. We employ biochemical, molecular biology and high throughput proteomics tools to study the circadian mRBPome mediated regulation of translation. Apart from the project the person will assist in daily operations of the laboratory that includes maintenance of project related inventories and ordering of consumables. Appropriate training and supervision specific to the project will be provided.

Duration

Two years (initially for six months, which is extendable to up to 2 years based on satisfactory performance and mutual interest).

Money

As per DST norms (Candidates without NET/GATE qualification may be considered for project assistant post with reduced salary as per SERB rule).

Qualification

  • MSc (or equivalent) in any subject related to life sciences with a minimum of 60% Marks or CGPA of 7.0 and above at a scale of 10.
  • Preferably having qualified CSIR-UGC NET or GATE or any other national level exam conducted by national agencies like DBT, DST, ICAR, ICMR, DAE, MHRD, DRDO, IIT, IISER etc with a valid score.
  • Candidates should be below 28 years of age at the time of application.

Experience

Candidates with hands-on research experience and ability to generate and handle large scale proteomics data will be preferred. Working knowledge in biochemical, molecular biology assay, bioinformatics and previous knowledge of protein related work is desired but not mandatory.

To Apply

Interested candidates should email their CV with relevant details of laboratory research experience and contact details (email and contact number) of at least three referees to Dr. Sougata Roy at sougata.roy@ashoka.edu.in
