An informal, safe, and supportive outreach approach to bridge the Mental Health Gap in India
The project "An informal, safe, and supportive outreach approach to bridge the Mental Health Gap in India" by Reeteka Sud, Nimhans and her team focused on creating platforms for scientists, clinicians, patients, caregivers, and the general public to connect over battling stigma that surrounds a mental illness diagnosis.
The initiative also aimed to make research (on mental illnesses) more accessible. To this end, their events held at six different cities around the country aimed at promoting dialogue between researchers and the general public. Their e-book also discusses that, in addition to first-person narratives of living with a mental health condition. The researchers plan to take the outcomes of this grant forward with setting up patient-public interactions (PPI) with clinicians and scientists in order to frame future research taking lived experience perspective into account.
