The Advanced Science Young Innovator Award recognizes outstanding, interdisciplinary scientific work in the fundamental understanding and applied development of materials science and chemistry, physics and engineering, life and health sciences, earth and environmental sciences, as well as social sciences and humanities.

Sponsored by Wiley’s Advanced Portfolio, this prestigious award recognizes the very best emerging scientists who are not just advancing their fields but demonstrating how rigorous research creates tangible impact. As an awardee, you receive the platform to share your work with a global audience.

Recipients will receive:

  • A $1,000 monetary prize.
  • Media promotion across Wiley’s international platform.
  • Formal recognition at the Advanced Summit, a prominent hybrid event broadcasting live from London on November 2, 2026.

Qualification

  1. Applicants must be either within 10 years of becoming an independent Principal Investigator or under 45 years of age at the application deadline (June 15, 2026).
  2. Applicants must be conducting research in one or more of the following fields: materials science, chemistry, physics, engineering, life and health sciences, earth and environmental sciences, and social sciences and humanities.
  3. The selection process is not restricted to publications in specific journals.
  4. The award winner will be selected based on the outstanding quality, novelty, and significance of the candidate’s research. Recipients must also demonstrate outstanding potential as emerging leaders in their respective fields.

Awardees will be selected through a rigorous evaluation process, with the award committee reserving the right to determine the final number of awards based on application quality, ensuring a flexible framework that recognizes sector-defining excellence.

  1. An application letter and research summary statement highlighting key research findings and their impact (1 page)
  2. Curriculum Vitae including latest photograph, date of birth and the time you started working as independent PI (2‑pages maximum)
  3. Overview of key publications (2 pages maximum)
  4. Letters of support from 2 established scientists familiar with the applicant’s qualifications and area of research.

The decision of the award committee is final and not subject to appeal.
