Profile

Applications are invited from suitable candidates (citizens of India) for one position of Project Research Scientist II (non-medical) in an ICMR funded research project in the Laboratory of Dr. Sunil Martin at Rajiv Gandhi Centre for Biotechnology, Thiruvananthapuram. The focus of the laboratory is to redirect the immune cells by engineering synthetic receptors to understand the basic mechanisms and to explore its translational potential in cancer immunotherapy. Age limit: Below 40 years as on April 02, 2024. Age relaxation will be given as per ICMR and Govt. of India norms

Duration

Initially for a period of one year and extendable until the termination of the project whichever is earlier based on performance evaluation.

Money

₹ 67,000/- with 18% HRA consolidated per month. Increments subject to performance.

Qualification

  1. Ph.D or First Class Post Graduate Degree (including the integrated PG degrees) in M.Tech/M.Sc. Biotechnology/​Biochemistry with three years’ experience.
  2. Second Class Post Graduate Degree, (including the integrated PG degrees) in M.Tech/M.Sc. Biotechnology/​Biochemistry with Ph.D. and three years’ experience.
  3. Candidates with project experience in Mammalian Genetic Engineering/​Immunology/​Hematology/​Cancer Biology/​System Biology will be preferred.
  4. Candidates qualified with national Junior Research Fellowships such as ICMR, DBT, CSIR, or UGC.
  5. Prior biomedical research experience in academia or industry with molecular biology, immunology, hematology, or cell and gene therapy with an aptitude towards pursuing a research career would be a plus.
  6. An aptitude for designing, organizing, and executing experiments on the bench with strong analytical skills.

Experience

Desirable:

  1. Fine skills in molecular biology and immune cell culture.
  2. Publications in national or international journals
  3. Good interpersonal skills to work in collaborative teams
  4. Industry experience in immunology or cell and gene therapy
  5. Defended Ph.D. thesis in the last 4 years
  6. Commitment to complete the project

Selection to the position will not entitle the candidate to any future positions at RGCB (permanent or otherwise). As with all project positions at RGCB, the position will be co terminus with end of the project.
