Postdoctoral Researcher

 Punjab, India

Project

Funded by the Narotam Sekhsariya Foundation the project focusses on understanding the soil fungal microbiome, its role in soil carbon sequestration and creating biotechnology solutions to enhance soil carbon sequestration.

Profile

The role will involve a combination of molecular and microbiology skills and genomics to identify species involved in SCS, using bioinformatics and computational modelling to create solutions for scale up, and quantitative assessment of soil fungal microbiome and its impact on soil carbon levels. They have already hired a Project Associate who’s working on the experimental part. They hence would like to hire a postdoc with hands-on training in bioinformatics, omics analysis, some computational modelling, and an interest in exploring experimental approaches as well.

Techniques: Bioinformatics, qPCR, NextGen Sequencing, Interpretation and utilization of genomics data, computational models to study microbiomes, designing and validating innovative experimental systems to study soil carbon sequestration

Duration

2 years

Money

Upto INR 70,000 per month

Qualification

PhD in bioengineering/biophysics/genomics and related fields.

Experience

Skills Required: Hands-on experience of working with omics databases and bioinformatics tools Hands-on experience of working with microbiomes (human/animal/soil/aquatic) Molecular and cell biology lab techniques Interpretation of sequencing data for species identification, phylogenetic anlaysis, and informing experimental design Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members Strong oral and written communication skills to share findings, present results and prepare detailed documentation Ability to design and troubleshoot experiments, and interpret experimental data Experience of working with fungal strains will be beneficial Experience of developing computational models to investigate microbiomes will be beneficial.
