National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) invites applications from suitable individuals for the position of Senior Project Associate on a contract basis.

This project aims to assess how plant functional traits explain species’ variation in seedling response to light and water availability, and link findings to habitat fragmentation and global change.

The researcher will manage field teams, conduct vegetation census, collect environmental data, help with functional traits assessment, collate and analyze data, and prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. 

Age limit: 40 years as on 01.07.2024

Candidate will be hired for 12 months initially and continuation will be decided based on performance.

Rs.42,000/- + HRA as applicable.

MSc in Ecology, Wildlife Biology, Botany or allied fields.

4 years field experience.

Desirable:

• Ability and strong interest in taxonomic identification of plants
• Strong quantitative skills and proficiency with data analysis in Program R
• Track record of publications
• Excellent communication and time-management skills
• Strong work ethic and independent project management abilities
• Ability to work in remote locations and tough conditions
