National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) — Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), is a premier research institute engaged in research in life sciences across scale. Several research facilities and associated infrastructure helps in providing cutting edge technology and support research. Several of these facilities not only provide support to the researchers within the institute, but also academia and industry nationally and internationally.

Electron Microscopy (EM) Facility is looking for Facility Assistant.

1. Biological sample preparation for electron microscopy, including fixation, processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, and related specimen preparation techniques.
2. Acquisition of high-quality images using electron microscopes for research applications, including image processing, analysis, and documentation.
3. Perform routine day-to-day maintenance of major and peripheral instruments in the facility to ensure their optimal performance, reliability and operation.
4. Responsible for the upkeep and upgradation of the facility, as well as training students, scientists, and other facility users in the operation and best practices of the equipment.
5. Develop and modernize the facility both at technical and management levels.
6. Provide technical services and assist in organizing annual training workshops for external users and facilitate industry collaborations to promote the effective utilization of the facility.

The appointment will be a fixed-term position initially for one (1) year and renewable annually subject to the outcome of a performance assessment. The position comes with consolidated pay based on qualification and experience, subject to institutional guidelines.

As per Govt. norms based on experience and qualification.

M. Sc / M. Tech / Masters in any biological sciences discipline from a recognized University/​Institute with a minimum of 55% of marks in aggregate.

Desirable Experience: 2 years of relevant experience in the preparation of Life Science specimens, including tissue sectioning, embedding, and staining.
