Project

Mechanism of beta adrenoreceptor signaling regulation in mesenchymal stromal cells during aging

Profile

Aging leads to dysregulation of bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) which in turn causes hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) dysfunction and increased production of myeloid cells. In this context, defects in beta adrenoreceptor (β‑AR) signaling in MSCs is known to cause HSC dysfunction in aging. The Research Scholar will be involved in delineating the molecular mechanism underlying MSC dysregulation during aging using gene cloning, molecular biology and immunology techniques in animal cell lines and primary cell cultures.

Location: Centre for Life Sciences at Mahindra University which has major focus in research undertaken by faculty trained in modern technologies such as personalized medicine, genome editing, metabolic engineering, immunobiology, host-pathogen interaction, GMOs, molecular diagnostics, nanobiotechnology, bioprocess modelling, biosensors, green products, stem cells & regenerative medicine, biomaterials, biomedical devices, computational biology, clinical informatics, etc.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance, stimulations and assays using animal cell lines
