About

Regional YIMs aim to build local networks of scientists and science professionals with an aim to promote regional collaborations and change. The RYIMs are intended to be Young Investigator (YI) driven endeavours that will promote networking in local scientific communities and foster collaborative leadership among YIs in the region.

Importantly, RYIMs are expected to be no-garland’ events, optimised towards a supportive and collaborative environment for the participants, resource personnel, and organisers. RYIMs will ensure diversity and representation across gender and other demographics for participants, speakers, panellists and resource personnel.

The Regional Young Investigators’ Meeting (2023−2024), Srinagar will be organised at the University of Kashmir, Srinagar and will be conducted across two days (19 September — 20 September 2023), with a Crafting Your Career (CYC) workshop on 21 September 2023.

RYIM Srinagar, 2023 – 2024

The RYIM Srinagar at the University of Kashmir in collaboration with Central University of Kashmir and Cluster University Srinagar will provide a unique platform to early-career scientists in Jammu & Kashmir, as well as Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. The interactions during this meeting shall focus on biology and career opportunities in the Indian scientific landscape, encompassing various sub-disciplines of biology, including biodiversity & sustainable development, climate change & disaster management, cancer, and infection biology, as well as bioenergy and genomics.

The meeting will include invited speakers from various specialisations and specially-curated sessions on lab development and funding for early-career researchers. The program will feature plenary talks, invited lectures, talks by early career PIs, posters by PhD/Postdoctoral researchers and panel discussions, as well as a Crafting Your Career (CYC) workshop facilitated by IndiaBioscience.

IndiaBioscience and the local organising committee invite all active researchers (Masters students, PhD researchers, Postdoctoral fellows, faculty, senior scientists from academia and industry) and science professionals (grants and research managers, science communicators, and public engagement professionals, to name a few) across the life-science sector from Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, to attend this two-day meeting and workshop.
