PDF Meeting 2021

The annual Young Investigators’ Meeting (YIM) brings together exceptional young and senior scientists, heads of institutes, and representatives from funding agencies for discussions and interactions focusing on science and careers in a broad range of disciplines of biology. Since its inception in 2009, the YIM has established its brand in the life-science fraternity. The meeting has created a vibrant atmosphere for exchanging ideas for improving science in India and catalysing friendships and collaborations between young Indian scientists.

Keeping the current pandemic situation in mind, the two major components of a physical meeting, the YIM followed by the PDF Satellite Meeting have been split into two chapters- the virtual YIM 2021 and PDF Meeting 2021. The YIM 2021, scheduled from 17 – 19 March 2021 will provide an opportunity for a larger cohort of young investigators from India and postdoctoral fellows from across the globe (looking to start independent research careers in India) to experience the flavors and components that a traditional YIM offers.

This year, there will be a dedicated PDF Meeting 2021 for four days spread across 18 – 21 May 2021 for postdoctoral fellows in India and abroad. This will enable our invited fellows to learn about the thriving research ecosystem in India and virtually meet and listen to Directors/Vice-Chancellors/ Representatives of institutes and universities from across India. The bulk of the meeting will revolve around understanding the prospects of a research career and patterns and processes of hiring. There will also be panel discussions to talk about pertinent issues related to hiring and the ecosystem. Due to the limitations of the virtual platform and time constraints, there will not be any presentations by the participants, but we will share participant CVs and lightning talks with the participating institutions before the meeting. There will also be an opportunity to interact with the institutional representatives at the networking sessions.
