Subramanian Sankaranarayanan is an Assistant Professor at Biological Engineering department of Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar, Gandhinagar. In this invited article, he describes the challenges he faced and the exciting opportunities he seized as a young investigator returning to Indian science.
