Talwar Research Foundation was created as a Trust in 1982 by Prof. GP Talwar, Founder Director, National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi. Initially the funds of Foundation for used to provide scholarship to women scientists.

However recognizing the need of undertaking research on problems relevance to the Country, TRF is now a full fledged research Organization duly recognized by DSIR Govt of India as SIRO (Scientific and Industrial Research organization). TRF is also recognized as a laboratory for research leading to PhD degree of scholars registered at various Universities.
