Junior Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow

 Bengaluru, Karnataka

Investigating the pattern formation during Hydra regeneration.

The research fellow will work on studying early pattern formation in Hydra vulgaris by studying effective physical forces emerging from the interaction of molecular players such as cytoskeletal proteins, and morphogen signals. The project has come out of a close interdisciplinary collaboration between biology and physics groups.

The research fellow will work in a multi-disciplinary area, making quantitative measurements using different techniques including microscopy, cell-based assays and molecular biology. The fellow may also be involved in computational modelling of this system.

The selected candidate will be appointed initially for one year which may be extended based on progress and candidate performance.

This project is funded by the Core Research Grant of Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB). The compensation will be as per standard JRF/SRF scales as applicable.

  • Candidates who have an M.Sc, B.E., or BTech may apply as a Junior research fellow.
  • If the candidate has at least two years of post M.Sc, B.E., B.Tech, research experience, they may apply for the Senior Research Fellow position.
  • Candidates with a strong interest in working on a project that combines theory and experiment are invited to apply.
  • Wet lab experience is preferred, and basic programming skills are desirable.
