Profile

ATREE is seeking a creative and motivated researcher in Landscape Ecology / Restoration Ecology/​Community Ecology who can augment the adoption of fruit plants and sustainable agricultural practices, to improve livelihoods and human well-being and also make substantial contributions to ATREE’s endeavours in ecosystem restoration.

The successful candidate will work with other Faculty at ATREE to actively foster interdisciplinary practices within biodiversity science to contribute effectively to ATREE’s overarching mission. The major responsibilities of the Fellow would involve designing, executing, and assessing programs aimed at overseeing and organizing initiatives for the cultivation and management of fruit plants to bolster their presence, foster partnerships with farmers, local community-based groups, government entities, and various stakeholders to expand the proliferation of fruit plants. The candidate should also spearhead efforts and undertake initiatives aimed at understanding, mitigating, and adapting to the impacts of climate change on diverse ecosystems.

The position will be based in Bangalore.

Duration

Appointments will be at the level of Fellow. The position is for 5 years with the possibility of extension upon performance review and quality of deliverables.

Money

Salaries at ATREE are competitive and on par with other academic institutions in India. 

Qualification

PhD in Lifesciences with specialization in Landscape Ecology/​Restoration Ecology/​Community Ecology.

Experience

Desirable qualifications and experience: Working experience of a minimum of two years or post-doctoral experience in practising landscape ecological approaches in improving biodiversity and human well-being in the human-dominated landscapes in the tropics. The candidate should demonstrate proficiency in designing and conducting ecological studies in diverse landscapes and ecosystems, and data analytical skills. The candidate should be able to communicate complex ecological concepts and findings to diverse audiences, including students, policymakers, and the public. The candidate is expected to contribute to ATREE’s teaching (Master’s and PhD courses) and training programs, outreach and other institutional activities.
