Regional Young Investigators’ Meetings (RYIM) aim to build local networks of scientists and science professionals with an aim to promote regional collaborations and change. The RYIMs are intended to be Young Investigator (YI) driven endeavours that promote networking in local scientific communities and foster collaborative leadership among YIs in the region.

Importantly, RYIMs are expected to be ​‘no-garland’ events, optimized towards a supportive and collaborative environment for the participants, resource personnel and organisers. RYIMs will ensure diversity and representation across gender and other demographics for participants, speakers, panellists and resource personnel.

The Regional Young Investigators’ Meeting (2023−2024), Pune will be organized at the Bharati Vidyapeeth deemed to be University Medical College, Pune as a multi-institutional effort. The RYIM Pune will be organized by Bharati Vidyapeeth deemed to be University Medical College, National Centre for Cell Sciences,Department of Health Sciences, Savitribai Phule Pune University in collaboration with ICMR-National AIDS Research Institute, Pune. The RYIM Pune will be conducted across two days (16 February — 17 February 2024), preceded by a workshop, Crafting Your Career (CYC), on 15 February 2024.

RYIM Pune 2024

The RYIM, Pune organizing committee under the aegis of IndiaBioscience would like to invite medical/​health researchers/​investigators to the Regional Young Investigators’ Meeting, Pune with the objective to provide a platform, to establish a regional network, to identify opportunities and challenges for young investigators and students involved in biomedical/​health research. 

The RYIM Pune will be conducted with a theme of ​‘Opportunities and Challenges for the Young Investigators in Interdisciplinary Medical Research’, in the context of Basic Sciences, Clinical Sciences and Public health research. We are inviting Students, Young and SeniorFaculty members/​Scientists, from research organizations and academic institutes actively involved in biomedical/​health research. We are also inviting independent investigators/​researchers and science professionals from the private sector and industry including science communicators, grants and research managers, educators, clinicians, and researchers from incubation centers, start-ups, and entrepreneurs for this meeting. 

The RYIM Pune will encourage participants to identify common interests, cultivate networking, and foster collaborations among biomedical researchers and their organizations. This meeting will guide young researchers on leadership and mentorship, the art of establishing a research group, sustaining collaborations, and grant writing. The Crafting Your Career (CYC) workshop will guide young biomedical researchers to direct their career paths and equip them with the skills required for biomedical researchers. With all these efforts and enthusiasm, RYIM Pune aims to pave the path for regional collaborations for the researchers and institutes involved in interdisciplinary medical research.

• Senior Researchers/​Faculty members: Group leaders, Senior scientists from research institutes and organizations, Senior faculty members of medical colleges, and universities, etc, established Clinicians, educators, industry professionals, research and grants managers, science communicators, public engagement professionals, incubation centers, and startups associated-researchers, and entrepreneurs. 

Please note that it is not necessary to be YIM alumni to participate in this meeting and there is no age bar for registration. Seats are limited, so please hurry up.

Abstract submission

Participants are encouraged to submit the Title and Structured Abstract (up to 250 words including Objective, Material and Methods, Observation/​Results, and Conclusions) for Oral/​Poster presentations in RYIM, Pune. The Title and Abstract are to be submitted through the Registration Form ONLY, created for registration for RYIM, Pune. 

The participants selected for oral and poster presentations will be communicated by email by 1 February 2024.

CYC workshop by IndiaBioscience

The Crafting Your Career (CYC) workshop for selected candidates will be held from 10:30 – 13:30 on 15^th February 2024 at the venue, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed to be University Medical College, Pune. 

CYC workshop is specifically designed for PhD Scholars, Young researchers, and Faculty members (as mentioned in the registration categories) involved in research in the field of biomedical sciences and allied subjects. 

There is no separate registration fee to attend the CYC workshop. However, it is mandatory for the participants to convey their interest through the Registration Form for registration. 

The participants shortlisted for the CYC workshop will be intimated by email after 21 January 2024.
