Eligibility
- Who is eligible to apply as the lead organiser for RYIM Grants 2025–2026?
The lead organiser must be a YIM alumnus who has attended a previous national YIM (in-person or virtual) as a Young Investigator and has been in an independent position in the life sciences in India for less than eight years.
- Who can be included as co-organisers?
Co-organisers should also have held independent life science positions in India for less than eight years and may or may not be YIM alumni. The RYIM team should consist of 2 – 4 co-organisers from different institutes/universities in the region.
- Can I apply if I’m not a YIM alumnus?
You can be a co-organiser, but only YIM alumni can serve as lead organisers.
- What if I’m interested in applying but don’t know any YIM alumni?

Application process
- How do I apply for the RYIM Grant?
You need to apply online, no email applications will be considered. Applications open on 21 April 2025 and close on 21 May 2025 (11:59 PM IST). Applications received post deadline will not be considered.
- What documents will I need to submit?
You will need a proposal detailing the meeting format, objectives, tentative agenda, proposed speakers, expected participants, and a draft budget. For more information, please visit: https://bit.ly/RYIM2526
- Can previous RYIM organisers or institutes apply again?
Yes, as long as the lead and co-organisers meet the eligibility criteria outlined above. However, we will prioritise institutions which haven’t hosted an RYIM yet.
Meeting format
- What format should the RYIM take?
The format is flexible and can include talks, discussions, panel sessions, and networking activities. You have the option to include a Crafting Your Career (CYC) workshop conducted by IndiaBioscience.
- Is there a duration limit for the meeting?
There is no strict limit; most RYIMs are 2 – 3 days events, depending on the scope and budget.
- Is participation in the meeting limited to previous YIM attendees?
No. Participation is application-based and open to early-career researchers, PhDs, and postdocs, as decided by the RYIM organising team. You can also charge a registration fee from the participants as well.
- What does "regional" mean in the context of RYIM?
While, regions can be broadly defined (North, South, East, West, Central, or North-East India to promote local collaboration among nearby institutes. For example, an institute based in Kolkata would fall under the East region.
Funding & budget
- How much funding is provided through the RYIM Grant?
Each selected proposal will receive up to INR 1.5 lakhs to support the meeting.
- What can the grant be used for?
The grant may be used for venue booking, local transport, speaker honoraria, logistics, communication materials, refreshments, Prizes for oral/poster presentations other approved meeting-related expenses.
Post meeting requirements
- What documents are required to be submitted after the meeting?
After the conclusion of the RYIM, the organising team must submit the following to IndiaBioscience:
A brief report summarising the event, key sessions, and outcomes
A registration list of all participants
A utilisation certificate detailing how the grant amount was spent
