This is the fourth such event in the series of workshops organised by IndiaBioscience, for undergraduate teachers in Life Sciences. Organised jointly by MES Abasaheb Garware College Pune and IndiaBioscience, this workshop will feature activity-oriented interactive sessions with experts from the fields of undergraduate education, biology research, biotechnology industry and academic administration.
Prior registration is recommended. There are no fees to participate. Please note that participants must make their own travel arrangements.

Panel Discussion: Future researchers and leaders in science: Issue, solutions and tactics
Sessions
The overarching objective is for participating teachers to develop teaching modules, incorporating information from different sessions. To this end, each session will include, in addition to presentation by respective speakers, time for interaction and participant discussion.
SESSION I:
Theme: Modern tools and techniques in education
Speaker: G. N. Nagarjuna (HBCSE, Mumbai)
Objectives:
1. To gain information on applying ICT in undergraduate classroom
2. To apply technology for meaningful learning in classroom teaching
Points for participant-discussion:
1. Selecting appropriate tools and techniques for your curriculum
2. Construct a classroom module using tools presented in the session
SESSION II:
Theme: CUBE’s approach to incorporating research in undergraduate classroom
Speaker: Ashutosh Mule (Elphinstone College, Mumbai)
Objectives:
1. To design approaches for undergraduate research
2. To align research with student learning
Points for participant-discussion:
1. Generate exercises/mini projects for your students
2. Establish collaborative network with colleagues from other colleges
SESSION III:
Theme: Biodiversity assessment & modern Phylogeny-based research at UG level
Speakers: Anand D. Padhye, Tejaswini Pachpor
Objectives:
1. To learn about tools in modern Phylogeny research
2. How to apply these tools in UG classroom?
Points for participant-discussion:
1. Generate project ideas, execution methods and develop teachers’ network for UG research on biodiversity and phylogeny studies
2. Classroom application of phylogeny-related tools and techniques
SESSION IV:
Theme: Institutional Transformation
Speakers: B.D. Bhole, D.G. Naik
Speaker presentations (30 min each) will be followed by poster-making by participants, hashing out their ideas on catalysing needed change at their respective institutes/colleges
Objectives:
1. To address problems faced by teachers at their working places
2. To plan activities to execute necessary change

1. Analysis of issues faced in teaching & research at undergraduate institutions
2. Making posters, displaying activities to be carried out in teachers’ network
