BIRAC has introduced the Biotechnology Ignition Grant (BIG) scheme, which is designed to stimulate the validation of research discoveries by providing very early stage grants for the development and maturation of those discoveries. BIRAC would invite proposals for Ignition grant at least twice a year. The BIG Scheme would be implemented through BIG Partners across the country.

Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), the Department of Biotechnology’s interface agency is helping transform innovative startups into viable and competitive products and an enterprise.

The BIG scheme allows only online submission of proposals. For proposal submission please register on the BIRAC website under ​“BIG User”. User registration is open around the clock. For further details on the scheme, eligibility criteria, FAQs and registration log on to www​.birac​.nic​.in.
