About

Regional YIMs aim to build local networks of scientists and science professionals with an aim to promote regional collaborations and change. The RYIMs are intended to be Young Investigator (YI) driven endeavours that will not only promote the ethos of YIMs in local scientific communities but also foster collaborative leadership among YIs in the region.

Importantly, RYIMs are expected to be‘no-garland’ events, optimised towards a supportive and collaborative environment for the participants, resource personnel and organisers. RYIMs will ensure diversity and representation across gender and other demographics for participants, speakers, panelists and resource personnel.

The Regional Young Investigators’ Meeting (2024−2025), Visakhapatnam will be organised at GITAM (deemed to be University) and Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone Limited (AMTZ), Visakhapatnam and will be conducted across three days (18 September-20 September 2024).

RYIM Visakhapatnam, 20242025

On behalf of IndiaBioscience and the local organising committee, RYIM Visakhapatnam would like to invite all active researchers (PhD scholars, postdoctoral fellows, faculty members, young PIs, group leaders, independent investigators, early career researchers, faculty fellows including Ramanujan, Ramalingaswami, DST INSPIRE, India Alliance fellows, academia scientists and industry executives) and science professionals (science communicators, grants and research managers), educators, clinicians, researchers from incubation centres, start-ups, entrepreneurs.

RYIM Visakhapatnam aims to provide a platform for fostering local networks of scientists, medical technology professionals from industry, PhD scholars and students from the various disciplines of biosciences to promote regional collaboration and scientific progress in the field of medical technology. This event will offer a great opportunity for the participants to leverage through the dynamics of academia-industry collaborations.

GITAM, with its academic significance and AMTZ, with a dominant role in med tech innovation in India, will offer a unique partnership for organising this event. This event will provide an excellent platform for not only GITAM and AMTZ’s R&D workforce, but also the scientific community from the nearby states of AP, Telangana, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha to foster innovative approaches in their scheme of research and mitigate the needs of the students and scholars to make them ready for the industrial needs.

The meeting will also host a session focusing on the core facilities present at the local institutions so that there is awareness and maximal usage of available resources.
