Event Details
Azim Premji University, Bhopal, invites you to participate and submit abstracts for the first annual meeting of the ‘Indian Forum for Invasion Biology’ to be held from 21 – 22 February 2025.
Invasive alien species (IAS) represent one of the major environmental challenges for conserving global biodiversity and economic development. Emerging economies, like India, face the greatest threat of biological invasion; yet our response capacities are inadequate to deal with this problem. We believe that a common platform of stakeholders in the invasion biology domain can address the knowledge gaps, adopt more integrative research approaches, and enhance linkages between science, policy, and practice.
From the ‘Heart of India’, we are going to start the Indian Forum for Invasion Biology, where various stakeholders are coming together to discuss the pressing issues related to the impacts, knowledge, and management of the IAS in India. In this forum, we will identify and address the gaps in IAS research, education, data, and policy. By fostering collaboration and partnerships within and beyond academia, the forum aims to make research more relevant to implementers.
